Grid Data Security 2 Grid Data Security
Not taken Ethernet socket is a security threat?

Here is my understanding. Ethernet can be sent via lines power similar to the way Internet phone comes on line (filters applied to allow clean signal). The problem I see with this person is on the same grid with you should be able to get the signal (no signal range because this is not a radio broadcast). This type protected connection as a connection is "wired" and therefore probably not subject to security profiles WPA2? The reason I ask is for electricity can be shared, so why not have data on power lines (eg, I have a voltage generator and I can actually feed back into the grid). Let me know if I'm worried about nothing (quoted sources would be nice) because I get one of these.

There are two competing standards. HomePlug and another thing I do not remember. Most Homeplug devices use DES encryption (enabled during the installation process when Link Device) to encrypt the connection settings and data packets. DES is similar to 128-bit AES encryption. It is good enough for you not to worry. If someone was on the same grid, they would need to break DES encryption, which is difficult (like WiFi WPA/WPA2 AES). For activities related to the Internet, you can always VPN tunnel your WAN connection (LAN and if you want). Use Hotspot Shield free or use a paid service for browsing free ads. VPN Network space is not necessary or advisable (because of performance issues and not all clients support VPN clients in their operating system as game consoles).

RFID is Pretty Cool Technology, But is it Safe and Secure?
