What is grid computing?
I heard about grid computing. Can anyone provide more details on such as grid computing and how does it work? I heard that Google runs some sort of grid computing environment ..
The Grid computing is an environment or, better said, it is a type of parallel and distributed system that enables sharing, selection, and aggregation of resources Autonomous distributed geographically. Grid resources are assigned dynamically at runtime depending on their availability and capacity. Grid computing is defined as the application of resources in a network to a single problem simultaneously. The important distinction is that, when the use of these distributed resources, you are passing theoretical and political boundaries. A true grid includes several separate companies, the distributed processing environments. Many people confuse between grid computing, distributed computing and cluster computing. You have 10 computers somewhere that can be used for your distributed computing model, and people are already calling a grid. For practical reasons, it does not really matter, not a big problem but for methodology, we are talking about grid computing, when we speak of a large-scale application.
