The companies of the modern era have great concern about the health of their people, so they can participate with the multidisciplinary team of physicians, pharmacists, nurses and others to optimize the delivery of health care better to boost their public health. The profession of pharmacy has evolved from its traditional role of compounding drugs for pharmaceutical care, the design and development of drugs and their magic formulas and current research in the medical and pharmaceutical to counter the modern needs society. The Department of Pharmacy, University of Lahore has been established to provide instruction in the basic health needs of the era modern, to achieve the goals of getting rich quickly with a flowing stream of knowledge through electronic aids or audio-visual materials and prepare corresponding caliber professionals. The rigor of our curriculum, course selection modern, faculty and access to state art facilities to our campus to enhance the prestige and recognition of the measure, we will award our students.
Mission
The mission of the pharmacy department is to educate and train people for the present concern for the future, so that they become productive members of the team of health care, which, serving the needs of society in a best possible way. The Department of Pharmacy committed to providing an environment of excellence and academic research, and social responsibilities that facilitate the spread and acquisition Knowledge and skills related to the profession of pharmacy and the disciplines in pharmacy education.
Objectives: We desire to be recognized as a leader in pharmacy education through:
1. The acquisition of skills in the curriculum of pharmacy maintaining ethical and professional standards.
2. Preparation of pharmacy graduates by providing knowledge, skills, motivation and professional attitudes to the correct and rational use of drugs, now and in the future.
3. Promote an environment to support basic research in
scientific training for students pursuing careers of pharmacists, researchers, managers and academics. and applied medical sciences and pharmaceuticals, to advance pharmaceutical knowledge, to encourage the discovery of drugs rights and, finally, the achievement of higher education.
4. address concerns common to professions of pharmacy and allied in order to promote the distribution and use of allied health services.

Scope of Pharmacy
Community / Retail Pharmacy: This area includes the practice of pharmacy in community or retail outlets. The pharmacists in community settings, actively participate in patient education, maintenance and monitoring records and drug information resources of high caliber. This is very rapidly growing area of pharmacy practice in which pharmacists are deployed at the store leading to positions management in pharmacies in the chain of drugs or themselves owning their own pharmacy.
Hospitals and other institutional establishments: The expansion of health care needs of society puts hospital pharmacists in a position to have direct involvement in patient care In addition to its established role in controlling the supply and distribution of drugs, management functions, personnel administration, development systems and planning. Hospital pharmacists continue to become more involved in the delivery of services focused on the patient's request practishnors in the field of pharmacy continues to grow.
Managed Care Pharmacy: Managed care pharmacy services are complementary health services delivery system for pharmaceutical care in primary or preventive. Increasingly, pharmacists are employed in various functions within managed care organizations (QCM). Managed care is a system designed to optimize patient care and outcomes and the quality of care through better coordination of medical services and pharmaceuticals.
Pharmaceuticals: Another career option is represented in pharmacy by the pharmaceutical industry. Here, the pharmacists are employed in manufacturing, product development / research, quality control, marketing, sales and administration. Many pharmacists to obtain a postgraduate degree in order to meet the technical requirements and features necessary scientific the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.
Academic Pharmacy: About 500 full-time faculty members work at the Faculty of the nation or departments Pharmacy, while in a developed country like the U.S., this figure is over 3,000. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D)
Admissions
Application for admission to the Pharm-D. pharmacy program will be made to the Head of Department of Pharmacy, University of Lahore. The Candidate must possess F.Sc. (Pre-medical) certificate or its equivalent from a recognized college in the country / B. Sc Chemistry, Botany, Zoology Institute recognized in the second division. There will be an aptitude test entry / for each applicant and the admission will be decided after the interview. Applications must be submitted by the applicant and the official transcripts of the last institutions attended, test scores and three letters of recommendation. The letters are sent directly to the Head of Department of Pharmacy. System Review
The five-year program degree Pharm-D will be conducted under the system of annual review. It will be the first annual review after the end of each year vocational followed by the second annual review this year. The candidate will be required to submit all the documents of the theory and practice separately by obtaining 50% of brands. Students must clearly professional examination in four consecutive tests, including the annual review of the first fixed for that class. In exceptional cases students may be allowed a chance to clear his five professional examination by the Rector of the University, upon recommendation of department head.
While in the first professional class he / she does not clear all subjects in the professional examination of the first maximum of five attempts, he / she has ceased to be students of the University. However, he / she will be readmitted.
Academic Regulations
Eligibility
F. Sc with pre-medical or equivalent B. Sc with chemistry, botany, zoology from a recognized Institute 2nd division.
Improvement Division
Any material in which a student may have enrolled more than once is considered as a refresher course. With permission from program advisor, students can engage in courses (s) for improvement of marks. The marks obtained in that course must be taken into account for the degree requirements at the time of graduation.
Attendance: 80% attendance is essential for each student to sit the final exam professional. It bears the marks of 10% credit, which will be accumulated in the finals each year.
Promotion of students failed in the professional examination: A student will be temporarily promoted to the top if he / she has failed in two subjects and the second from professional examinations. If it does not pass, even after using three chances he / she will returned to the lower class.
Assignments / Test / Tutorials / teacher evaluation: Assignments and tests are given after the end of each subject in all subjects. These subjects were then submitted for discussion in the tutorial class, then the teacher concerned shall evaluate the knowledge and participation each student. These carry 15% of the total score.

Doctor of Pharmacy – Condensed (Pharm-D)
During condensed Pharm-D is available to those who have completed B. pharmacy degree with 4 years course. This course consists of two condensed semesters each of six months including the following topics
Anatomy Biopharmaceuticals, Biostatistics, Clinical Pharmacy, Community Pharmacy Informatics and its application in pharmacy, instrumentation, pathology quality management pharmaceutical pharmaceutical technology. Pharmacy management and marketing.
