Should I throw this computer out – Part 1
Ok So your computer is installed in your last nerve. It's slow, it takes forever to start, your programs are slow, it crashes often and without reason, video and music playback is slow and seem to "jump", the Internet appears lethargic …. Then you say "Maybe it's time for a new computer!
Not so fast. A new computer may not be the only answer to your problem. Your computer may just need a little cleaning and optimization, or it may need an upgrade. Most people do not realize that your computer takes care of tasks and responsibilities added as you use it or "it grows. "Whenever you load a new program or surf the web some files are added to the registry or on your computer. More is more and register files that are your computer has a direct impact on the speed of your computer. There are several things you can do to clean and / or optimize your machine. Doing this will improve your performance. Here are some examples of things you can do to "clean" your computer. If you are not familiar with these procedures or do not feel the run, call or contact one of the suppliers listed at the end of the article and they can do for you for a very feasible.
1. Uninstall unused programs – If you go to your Control Panel Panel and click Add / Remove Programs icon, a list will come that shows most of the programs installed on your machine. If click on the name of a particular program, it will be highlighted and you can then choose to uninstall. Uninstall anything you do not really use … for example, if you used to use AOL as your ISP and now have cable service or Internet telephony providers, AOL and the program of all its features are unnecessary (unless you prefer to use interface AOL instead of using a standalone browser like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, etc.)
2. Check and remove stealth programs – I call them stealth programs because many times they are installed without the knowledge of the user. For example when you download the free Acrobat Reader from Adobe, there is a little check mark that appears that says "install the free Google Toolbar. If you have not read carefully all the screens, this program is installed even if you do not particularly want it. Many programs we install from the Internet have "add-ons" that can slip by you if you do not mind …. So check for those and the delete.
3. Delete Temporary Internet files – Each time you access the Internet and visit a site Web files are stored on your computer. The purpose of these files is to store some images and other page elements so that when you visit the site Again, it loads faster because the files can be learned from your machine. Periodically, these files should be deleted. Depending on the amount of surf that you do, these files can take up much space and thus slow down your computer.
4. Removing unwanted / unnecessary files – To make the process that you ask your computer to perform, it uses three main components: processor, memory and hard drive. Work the three components together to perform any process or function that you ask the computer to perform. Removing old, obsolete, unwanted files from your computer freeing up disk space that can turn your hard drive for better performance and enables your computer for better performance.
5. Perform a defragmentation "- a defragmentation" or disk cleanup through areas of your hard disk and frees the space used and streamlines how files are stored on your computer. The hard drive is controlled for files that are broken (parts of a file in one place and in another room) and reposition them so they are streamlined and consolidated. This process allows your hard disk for better performance and enables your computer for better performance.
6. Run "Msconfig" – Running MsConfig our computer will determine what programs and features are being started when you start your computer. Most of the time, you will find that not all programs that are listed are wanted or needed and, as I previously mentioned, every little thing that is done or started when you turn on your computer contributes to the degradation of speed.
Follow these simple steps and you will see an improvement in the performance of your machine. Is it enough to make you want to cling to the old computer? Well, it's up to you. If yes, great! If not, you need to upgrade. Check Part 2 of this article where we discuss the benefits of upgrading. In the meantime, for more great answers to your computer problems ….
